Dr. Avakian has been my dentist for over a decade and I went to him complaining of jaw pain and discomfort with teeth grinding and clinching along with headaces. It was determined that I had TMJ with jaw misalignment.
Dr. Avakian recommended the oral orthodontic treatment which I was hesitant to try because I wasn't convinced it would work and I didn't want to invest the time and money.
My pain became so intense where eating was difficult due to the chewing motion. The left side of my jaw was constantly swollen and stiffened with any jaw movement, such as talking was painful. The pain became visible by my facial expression of discomfort.
I finally decided that the treatment was my only option and after over a year of ongoing treatment, I am ecstatic to say that I am nearly pain-free.
